Today we visited Sally at Kimberly Cavies, we came home with a delightful little alpaca sow. Her new name is Alice. Alice is 10 months old and will hopefully soon be joined by some Alpaca friends! Thank you Sally for our lovely new piggy.
Saturday 2nd December 2006.
We have had a busy day today. Firstly we said goodbye to four of our darling piggies who have moved on to new homes with Gardners-Guineas and Claires Cavies. It's always hard to say goodbye but we know that they will be very much loved in their new homes.
We also welcomed two new peruvians today. One a solid chocolate colour and one chocolate and cream. Holly and Ivy and settling in well!
Sunday 26th November 2006.
What an exciting day!
Today was the Epsom show. We entered into the longhaired purebreeds again and were not disappointed with our results.
Tink took best of breed in the Peruvian classes. Moon Flower took best of breed in the Merino classes closely followed by Gyspy Rose in second place. Moon Flower went on to win Best Longhair!
We also were very lucky to bring home a stunning little Merino boar bred by Nikki Matthews. He is very sweet and has been named Mystic River as he has a beautiful cloudy grey colour to his coat.
Mystic River is not the only new piggy at the Manor today...
We also finally brought home Liliana our PEW. She is adorable, we will add photos soon.
Saturday 4th November 2006.
Today we visited Sue at Cuttings Cavies to drop off a peruvian sow for her. As always we came alway with some new additions!
This time we came home with two new Merino sow's. Gypsy Rose and Moon Flower. They are both absolutley stunning and we thank Sue very much for our new piggies.
Sunday 29th October 2006.
What a fantastic day! Today was the Kent Coast show at Boughton and it was our very first attempt at showing a peruvian in the purebreed classes.
Tink was entered into the Peruvian U5 class and went on to win this (1/1), Longhair challenge U5 (1/2), Longhair challenge AA/AV (1/4) and then she came 3rd in the Non-self challenge U5 (3/42). Tink also made us extremely proud when she won a rosette for Best of Breed and also a trophy for Best Longhair.
We must thank Sue Roughly from Cuttings Cavies for giving us the encouragement and confidence to show our longhaired piggies in the purebreeds. Thanks Sue!
We also had good results from Rosemary and Flik in purebreeds and Leo, Cole, Phoebe and Coop in pets.
Check out Tink's picture on our new page 'Show Pictures'.

Baby news!
This morning we opened up the shed to find that Billie had littered down with her first litter. She is now snuggled up with her baby, a stunning red (with a tiny amount of white) coroner boar. Leo is the proud father and this means that the birth of this bub is the start of our third generation of piggies!
Sunday 8th October 2006.
Sadly Rose passed away this morning. Back in August Rose was taken to the vets as she was suffering with Pneumonia. The vet did not think that Rose would pull through but she did. However, Rose has been very vunerable since then and yesterday we noticed she was finding it hard to breath and had a wheezy chest again. We immediatley seperated her from her cage mates and started treatment of Baytril again. This time Rose just wasn't strong enough.
Rose was one of our first peruvians. She had a fantastic nature and a beautiful coat which always took the judges eye on the show table. We are really going to miss Rose. R.I.P
Friday 6th October 2006.
Today Paul went to Naomi's house to collect our new piggy Faith who came down on the Piggy Train. Faith is a Peruvian sow. See her picture on the Peruvian page.
Thursday 28th September 2006.
Piper celebrated the birth of her 1st litter today. Three adorable peruvian bubs were born in the early hours of this morning.
Piper has taken to motherhood well and bubs are very strong and healthy. Pictures have been added to our 'nursery' page.
Tuesday 26th September 2006.
Unfortunatley we share sad news today.
At 7.05pm, Paige went to sleep for the last time. She passed away during labour. Paige was an adorable little piggy and the Manor just wont be the same without her. We were very lucky to have had such a wonderful piggy to love.
Sunday 24th September 2006.
We attended the show at Higham today, entering in both the Kent and the Southern shows. We took 9 piggies and all but two of them recieved cards and three of them went through to the challenges!
We were thrilled with Flik's first outing as she was shown in purebreeds and came 1st in the Southern show and 2nd in the Kent show.
Sunday 17th September 2006.
Today we went to see our friend's Jan and Chris at Cavy Cottage. We were very lucky to bring home a stunning teddy boar who we have named Dakota.
He is settling in very well., He loves his cuddles and is extremely freindly.
Thank you Jan.
Sunday 10th September 2006.
After spending his holiday here with Paige and Piper, Blue has returned home to his mummy Karen at Dorcilamus Cavies.
Blue has had a successful hoiliday as both Paige and Piper are expecting litters anytime now!!
It has been a real pleasure to look after Blue and our caviary isn't quite the same without him...
Saturday 2nd September 2006.
Today like many fanciers we travelled to Reading for the London Championships
We saw many different piggies and met up with some familiar faces for a natter and a cup of coffee (Dorcilamus and Piggy Zoo!!!) We were able to meet many others whom we had spoken with but had never had the opportunity to meet, it was lovely.
There were many stands to shop from so our piggies all had treats when we came home and thanks to Crackerjack they all had new water bottles too!!!
What a fantastic day, plently of laughs were had by all.
We have now got the 'show bug' back so we cannot wait until Higham on the 24th!
We also collected a lovely little teddy sow from Lisa at Cheeky Pigs. Phoenix is our first Teddy.
Saturday 26th August 2006.
We are very pleased to say that almost a week after she finished her course of Baytril, Rose is back to full health and is now snuggled up with Paige.
Friday 18th August 2006.
Well after a busy week , we are very pleased to say that Rose appears to be making a full recovery following her diagnosis of pneumonia. She has been taking her medication well but it has taken her a few days to get back into a good eating/drinking pattern. Yesterday she returned to the shed for the day as she seemed to be missing her furry friends! Although we are still bringing her in at night and she will remain on medication until sunday, she is doing very, very well. What a relief!
Monday 14th August 2006.
What a nightmare! Yesterday we visited Jayne (Crackerjack) and Sally (Egg Star) with Karen (Dorcilamus) we had a lovely piggy afternoon but came home to find a very poory Rose.
Rose was very quiet and was having obviously difficulty in breathing. We isolated her from our other piggies and brought her inside. After looking through Peter Gurneys 'Piggy Potions' book it appeared she had Bronchitis. Her breathing was laboured, we could hear crackling in her lungs, she wasn't eating or drinking and was extremely lethargic.
After a sleepless night i rang the vets and got her an early appointment. After examination the vet told me that Rose has Pneumonia and that she did not recommend further treatment!! I was very shocked and asked the vet to please treat Rose and give her a chance so she agreed. Rose was given an injection of Baytril and also of an anti inflammatory. I have also brought home a 7 day course of Baytril.
Well, that was yesterday and i am very pleased and very relieved to say that we have seen an improvement in Rose. Today she has eaten, wet and dirtied and is a little more active than yesterday. The signs are good, it looks like Rose is responding to her treatment and we hope that she makes a full recovery.
Friday 11th August 2006.
What a busy day Angel had today! When we arrived home from wotk we were delighted to find she had given birth to four beautiful babies. Three coronet sow's and one sheltie boar. All bubs and mum are doing well and Auntie Charm is lending a helping hand!!
Pigtures have been added to our 'Nursery' page.
Sunday 6th August 2006.
Sadly we have awful news to share today. At 9.15 this morning Rosemary went into premature labour. Her earliest possible due date was not until 13/8/06, Rosemary gave birth to 5 babies. Two beautifully marked sows, one self sow and two self boars. One was stillborn and the other four managed a few breaths but they were just too tiny. I weighed them all and they ranged from just 30g to 45g. Rosemary is very quite and is eating and drinking ok. We hope she will be ok once she has had chance to rest.
Monday 31st July 2006.
This morning at 9.15am, Alyssa gave birth to four beautiful peruvians. Sadly, one was stillborn and another lived only for a few minutes despite both Alyssa and Paul's best efforts. The two remaining bubs are delighful. Alyssa is now resting after a long labour and the babies are snuggled up with her...bless!
Sunday 2nd July 2006.
Today we visited our friend's at Dorcilamus Cavies. We were honoured to bring home their beautiful peruvian boar, Blue. Blue is a real stunner, a pure white coat set off by his piercing blue eyes.
Blue has come for a little summer holiday and hopes to spend time with Paige and Piper!
Look out for our new page...'The adventures of Blue', this will be coming soon and will let his mummy know exactly what he get's up to during his stay with us!
Sunday 18th June 2006.
The Pet Show at Farming World was held today, we chose not to show but we did pop in to say 'hello' on our way to pick up our new Chocolate Dalmation, who we have named Coop!
A youngster at 10 weeks and totally gorgeous, he's a lovely new addition to our family.
We spent much of the afternoon helping to put together a website for Dorcilamus Cavies. As soon as the web address is confirmed we will set up a link so you can all see their beautiful piggies. They have some extremely lovely pigs and lots of varieties too, peruvian, coronet, roan, himilayan and plenty of pets!
Sunday 11th Jine 2006.
The Kent show at Boughton was held today. We took along 7 piggies who all came either 2nd or 3rd in their classes, but this week it was Dex who did us proud coming 1st in his class, 3rd in the pet challenge and 3rd in the adult boar challenge. Well done Dex!
It was a very hot, humid day today and sadly one families poor piggiy passed away from heat exaustion and 4 others had to be treated after their family got lost in the car for 2 hours on the way to the show. Despite having air-conditioning in our car, we have made the decision not to show at Farming World next week especially if the weather is still as hot as it is at the moment. Our piggies are far to precious to risk loosing them. We will however still go along to meet fellow fanciers and to support those who choose to show.
Thurday 8th June 2006.
New babies born this morning!!! What a joy it was to open up the shed this morning and find three peruvian babies looking back at us! Congratulations Rose. Mum and bubs are doing well and Aunty Alyssa is helping the new mum adjust to parenthood! Look out for the photo's on the 'Nursery Page'!
Sunday 28th May 2006.
Today was the Epsom show. We had some great results. Piper and Leo came 1st in their classes but were not so lucky in the challenges. Dougal, who attended his very first show today made us very proud by coming 3rd and Billie stole the judges heart by coming 1st in both her class and the challenge and then 3rd in the grand challenge. A very good day indeed, made all the better by the good company we had!!
Friday 26th May 2006.
At 6am we were awoken by the sound of a new mum nursing her babies! Yes, we were thrilled to find the Thyme had finally littered down and had 4 babies. Sadly the little chocolate dalmatian bub was just too weak and despite our best attempts it passed away. The other 3 are chocolate selfs and are doing well.
Sunday 21st May 2006.
Sad news...When Paul opened up the shed this morning and fed all the piggies as usual he found that Hollie-Marie had sadly passed away. Hollie-Marie had been fine, even last night she was popcorning happily and eating well. A sad loss :(
Sunday 14th May 2006.
What a busy day we had! We went to the Higham show today and it was great to see such a big turn out. We took along 5 piggies to show in the pet classes and were thrilled with their results.
Piper, Billie and Dex all came 2nd in their classes but it was Leo who did really well. He came 1st in his class, first in the 5/8 challenge, 3rd in the best adult AA and also 3rd in the rosette class AA. What a good boy :) We are both very proud of him.
Saturday 6th May 2006.
Today we visited the Dorking show. We were really pleased with our results, especially with Leo who came 2nd in his class and with Dex, who on his first time showing also came second in his class.
Thursday 20th April 2006.
Baby news!! At 6am this morning, Rosemary gave birth to 5 beige self's. Sadly two were stillborn. It was a shaky start for the other three, but a few hours on and things are looking good. Rosemary is doing great and seems to be enjoying time with her bubs!
Friday 14th April 2006.
Oh my goodness! Today we have added three more piggies to our family. We are now the very proud owners of Dex-a beige dalmation boar, Rosemary-a beige self sow and Thyme-a chocolate self sow. Both Rosemary and Thyme are expecting litters!! These new arrivals meant a big re-shuffle in The Manor but all have settled in well and seem relaxed and happy as they munch on their spinach and other goodies. Pic's have been added to 'Our Photo's' page.
Monday 3rd April 2006.
After a long weekend, Alyssa finally gave birth to 3 gorgeous babies. Pictures have already been added to the nursery page. Mum and babies are all doing well.
Sunday 2nd April 2006.
We visited the show at Higham today. We are pleased to say that all our piggies did really well in the pet classes. Zankou came 2nd in the long haired adult class and Leo took 1st in the long haired 5/8 and 3rd in the challenge 5/8.
Paige came 2nd in the long haired U5, while Piper took 1st in this class and then 2nd in the challenge U5.
